Groundwater Exploitation Estimation Using ArcView Spatial Analyst
Jane BaronThere is a need for qualification of the groundwater available for abstraction in an aquifer system. In South Africa, with its limited water resources, extra special care must be taken with available resources. These must also be allocated equitably. In order to assist in the management of the river catchments the groundwater resource must be qualified. Integrated catchment management will be achieved using ArcView GIS. The estimation of the groundwater resource will be available from within that application by using ArcView Spatial Analyst techniques. In this way scenario building of influences on the water resource can be done by the manager interactively.
