The release of BASINS 2.0 has increased the capabilities of the Non-Point Source Model (NPSM) module, which is based on the Hydrologic Simulation Program, FORTRAN ver. 10. This paper reviews the strengths and weaknesses of the interface between ArcView GIS and the NPSM module. BASINS 2.0 also allows for watershed delineation and buildout scenarios; these will be reviewed for ease of use, in particular, using EPA-provided data sets on a small-scale watershed. Procedures and difficulties of incorporating user developed site specific coverages, including necessary attribute field matrices, will be addressed in a case study.
