COMPAS Delaware: An Integrated Nonpoint Source Pollution Information System Paper Text

Betsy Archer
David B. Carter , Miriam Lynam

This is a collaborative effort between DNREC, NOAA/SEA, and USFWS, a working group focused on NPS pollution concerns to complement and support ongoing work required by Section 6217 of the CZA Reauthorization Amendments and Section 319 of the CWA. The COMPAS process was used to gather data from several programs into a desktop system that addresses specific water quality problems. It enables resource managers to view relationships between selected NPS sources, land use activities, and habitat trends. The information will help identify areas where the flow of NPS pollution can be reduced and habitat restoration priorities can be integrated with pollution control strategies.
