Three-Dimensional Databases in ArcView GIS Paper Text

The release of the 3D Analyst extension for ArcView GIS has finally opened the door to implementation of three-dimensional databases on the desktop. Knight Pi,sold has been creating three-dimensional databases for nuclear waste repositories, mineral exploration programs, and groundwater monitoring purposes. Basic techniques for implementing such databases are described, as well as an identification of potential links between 3D Analyst and other three-dimensional software packages. Examples will feature underground caverns, three-dimensional boreholes, and ore bodies.
