National Farm-Specific Databases for Analyzing the Agricultural Land Use and Spatial Diversity of Farms
Jesper StenstrupDue to the EC Statutory Instrument 3508/92 the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries has established a nationwide agricultural database for management of agricultural subsidy applications. The database contains detailed alphanumeric information about all Danish farms. These data may be georeferenced by address coordinates and field polygons, although this has not been done for operative purposes. The objective of the presented work is to develop methods that allow data collected for specific administrative purposes to be used for land use planning and policy evaluation. This paper presents the promising results on how new knowledge on spatial diversity of farms, agricultural land use, and relations between natural resources and agricultural land use can be obtained.
