APLICA: Access Public Land Information Counter Application
Anna ColemanIssue: Land development, home improvement requests, and applications are part of the daily tasks handled by local government community development departments. Employees must have quick access to land information including ownership, location, zoning, and taxes. GIS Solution: Create an ArcView GIS application using data developed with ArcInfo to allow employees and the public quick access to information and create maps. Methodology: The GIS department maintains many layers of data with ArcInfo, supplemented with orthophotography. Tabular data created in-house, county data, and third party data are stored in an Oracle database. Avenue was used to create an ArcView GIS Version 3.0 application that will allow access to current GIS and Oracle data. Software: ArcInfo Version 7.X with ARC COGO was used to create the GIS data layers. Oracle was used to store and manage all tabular data. Avenue was used with ArcView Version 2.1 and GIS Version 3.0 to develop scripts to automate tasks.
