The City of Stockton, California, maintains an ArcInfo GIS that includes sanitary system and land use coverages. In developing a sewer model for master planning purposes, the City's GIS was utilized as the raw data source. To facilitate this process, a customized GIS data management interface was developed, using ArcView GIS as the graphical interface between the City's GIS and the sewer model. This interface includes several project-specific Avenue routines used to import the City's GIS coverages, extract the system model and land use data, and export the model components to the sewer model. This paper will address the interface design and methods used to extract the model.
