Characteristics of a GIS Data Warehouse

This paper will review the development of an enterprise GIS data warehouse in King County, Washington. The unique characteristics of a public sector GIS data warehouse will be covered along with the network, organizational, technical and application development requirements for building a GIS data warehouse. The process departments use to update the enterprise GIS data warehouse and the methodology used to derive functionally specific coverages from data supersets will be reviewed.
