Using Project Management Tools To Facilitate the Development of an Enterprise GISDavid MockertPatrick Noonan This paper will detail the use of project management and scheduling tools to develop an enterprise solution for large municipal GIS implementations. The focus will be on the strategy for managing multimillion dollar projects involving strategic planning, application development, work flow assessment, database design, project management, and integration of GIS with legacy systems within a multidepartmental organization. It will also address the decision process for a move to SDE, as well as planning the database design to accommodate this transition. The City of Indianapolis/Marion County GIS will be used as the case study.
