Approaching ArcView GIS: The Development of a Training Program for Local Government Paper Text

The City of Phoenix customizes GIS applications and provides free training on those applications to users. ArcView GIS is gaining in popularity among the City's accomplished GIS users. Many new users are discovering ArcView GIS as a tool to view and analyze the City's many data sets. Development of a training program that meets the needs of a diverse body of users incorporated traditional classroom methods, customized individual sessions, newsletters, and a user group for the exchange of ideas and tips. Teaming up with private industry to cut costs added strength and flexibility to the program.
