The University of Arizona Library instituted a GIS service as part of the Association of Research Libraries GIS Literacy Project. Teaching and learning ArcView GIS made it difficult for nontechnical users to utilize spatial data without one-on-one assistance. To remedy this situation, we partnered with GIS campus experts to create a user-friendly GIS graphical user interface. This interface integrates various geoprocessing functions such as data capture, data management, and analytical techniques. A methodology will be proposed to evaluate the effectiveness and user-friendliness of the GUI.
