Implementation of Enterprise GIS Within the Insurance Industry
Reginald WarrenGeographic information represents a critical element to the insurance industry. We must make geographic information systems a core technology to be competitive and add value to our existing and future systems. Over the past four years, USAA has had success in integrating GIS into the corporate IS environment and has spent a great deal of effort defining the correct infrastructure to make it an enterprise solution. This paper will explain the processes USAA has gone through from initially bringing GIS into the company to support catastrophe operations to implementing GIS as an enterprise solution that potentially serves the entire company.
