Modeling of the Fire Arrival Process Based on Information from Remotely Sensed Data

Myunghee Jung

The natural landscape has been impacted by human activities such as urbanization, deforestation, and agricultural activity as well as by natural disturbances. The resulting landscape heterogeneity is closely related to ecological dynamics. Fire is one of the major agents of natural disturbances to affect ecosystem communities. This research focused on modeling the fire arrival process utilizing the nonhomogeneous Poisson process and its simulation based on the information derived from the multispectral imagery.
