Signaling Quality for Planning Analysis: GIS for Drainage Basin ManagementAbdul Hadi Harman ShahJamaluddin Jahi While using GIS to develop a comprehensive structure plan for a drainage basin in Malaysia, it was identified that quality signaling can do much toward gaining confidence for the plan. However, quality signaling, to be useful for planning purposes, must consist of more than just data reliability and accuracy. The signals must portray analytical processes of planning through GIS to make both analysis and GIS as a tool more acceptable for decision making in planning. This paper presents some findings on the types of information needed and the methods of signaling quality information to planners and final decision makers.
