Solving the Type Placement Puzzle: Implementing Maplex for Cartographic Production Paper Text

Significant gains in productivity were realized when Maplex was integrated into GeoSystems' GIS driven cartographic production system. Successful implementation of Maplex reduces the time required for placing and editing type in the map finishing process. Maplex has also been found to facilitate the compilation and data editing phases of map production. Maplex software's flexible type placement parameters offer broad control over the capture and the placement of type from ArcInfo coverages. This paper will focus on how Maplex has been integrated into GeoSystems' cartographic production process.
