Improved Crop Management with Spatial InformationKim RauenzahnThomas Ofenstein , Chuck Haggerty Emerge, an agricultural information service, was developed to provide spatial crop management tools to assist growers by improving yields and reducing costs. One-meter resolution imagery is collected using an airborne infrared camera and processed into georeferenced digital mosaics using custom ArcView GIS extensions. Additional spatial data such as yield data and soil chemistry are stored in SDE in georeferenced format. These data can be layered in GIS software and used to determine correlation between crop yield, soil, applications, and crop stresses. A subscription Internet site provides access to all data, which can be downloaded and ingested into ArcView GIS or any MapObjects-based software such as the custom EmergeView software.
