An Integrated Spatial Data Warehouse at Maine DOT
Paul O'PackiThe Maine Department of Transportation needed a tool to combine data warehouse and GIS technology to allow easy access to reliable information for systemwide query, analysis, and reporting. This paper provides an overview of Maine DOT's robust spatial data warehouse. Specifically reviewed are the various technical issues involved in a project of this nature. These include, but are not limited to, - Phased enterprisewide approach - Integration of diverse operational systems - TIDE architectural components and their role in the development process - Query and reporting functionality - How queries may be qualified (e.g., by geographic area, road type/class/section)
