Creating a Homogeneous Transportation-Based GIS in the State of Ohio Utilizing Mobile Mapping Technology

In a cooperative effort with the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Ohio Department of Transportation, selected local jurisdictions, counties, and planning commissions in Ohio will begin building an enhanced Standard Locator System to be used for locating traffic accidents, traffic citations, and EMS runs on the State and local roadway network. Since this Standard Locator System is based on accurate road centerline files, it inherently establishes the foundation for a county's geographical information system. TRANSMAP Corporation is conducting the pilot implementation in Licking, Lucas, and Pickaway counties utilizing its ON-SIGHT mobile mapping system.
