Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and ArcInfo GIS: An integrated Approach to Water/Sewer/Storm Water Utility Operations

Rick Hammond
Mark Rytilahi

While the application of ArcInfo GIS to utility operations is not new, getting beyond basic inventory and mapping functions is often difficult. As operational needs grow more complex and GIS uses expand to new areas, utility GIS must be taken to its next logical level, or it's just a pretty map. Maintenance of the utility network using CMMS helps utilities more accurately track problems within the network. This presentation will focus on the integration of ArcInfo GIS and CMMS to facilitate proactive maintenance, compliance with government mandates, and systemwide planning activities in water/sewer/storm water operations.
