Desktop GIS for Salmonid Resources in the Columbia River Basin

We developed a desktop GIS of northwest salmonid resources in the Columbia River Basin based on a series of ArcView GIS projects. Each ArcView GIS project is categorized into salmonid spawning escapement, hatchery releases, and presence/absence of tabular data. Additional coverages have been incorporated into each project to provide geographic reference and to permit data analysis. This desktop GIS allows scientists and managers to view salmonid population characteristics and geographic features simultaneously over varying spatial scales.
