Groundwater Modeling and Analysis: Models, Flownets, and Contaminant Transport Using ArcView GIS Paper Text

Bruce Rindahl

Groundwater analysis is a difficult and numerically intensive science that typically uses extensive computer programs for solutions. Using ArcView GIS and the ArcView Spatial Analyst extension, several applications for the analysis of groundwater have been developed. These include the development of flownets, travel times of groundwater movement, and contaminant transport. This allows the easy, georeferenced display of either MODFLOW simulations or a groundwater model written entirely in Avenue. This paper will present the results of these applications including two case studies.
