Performance Tuning for a Land Records System under ArcStorm, Oracle, and AIXMaureen LavanHanming Tu , Mark Massucci, Tom Pattison, Esri Marge Myslinski, IBM The CHESCO-LRS Parcel Update Application is a parcel update and management system for the County's 150,000+ tax parcels. It utilizes ArcStorm as the spatial DBMS and Oracle as the tabular DBMS. It was developed in an AIX OS environment using IBM RS/6000 workstations. Chester County, Esri, and IBM have worked jointly on benchmarking the County's application on IBM's RS/6000 and SP2 platforms. This paper will reveal the system, database, and application performance experienced during the benchmarks. As the County has discovered, using advanced database technology and high-end hardware does not guarantee ideal performance. The optimum performance only becomes apparent after tuning databases and applications while balancing the I/O and CPU usage. Findings in these areas will also be discussed.
