A Land Information Management Tool for Field Personnel Uses
Yan BarnettA PC-based ArcView GIS tool was developed for field data collection and updating. The tool allows field personnel to modify farm field boundaries using DOQ as a background and automatically calculate new acreage; update attribute information in the land use database; delineate drainage areas and summarize acreage of land uses and soils; add or update feature locations such as pipelines and water tanks; summarize total feet of line features or acreage of farm fields, land use categories, and soil types; generate spatial GPS locations from a GPS text file; and make maps of specified areas and data sets on the fly.
