Visualizing Economic and Ecological Impacts of Land Use Change

The Integrated Resource Management System (IRMS) evaluates the impacts of land use change by interfacing ecological and economic models using ArcView GIS and its Avenue programming language. The purpose of interfacing the models is to take advantage of the spatial operations afforded by the GIS. A graphical user interface is developed using Avenue and the ArcView GIS Dialog Designer extension. Dialog Designer is a graphical tool for creating menus that include buttons, check boxes, combination boxes, list boxes, and text boxes. IRMS guides users through a series of menus based on user input and compares results of what if scenarios.
