The management of military lands unfolds a history of use of GIS as well as enhancements for GIS and spatial data and technologies. A diversity of needs set the stage for infusing technology into the way that military land managers carry out their responsibilities. Options exist within partnerships across agencies and leveraging between the public and private sectors to pursue a technology life cycle. Examples include the USACERL Commercial Research and Development Agreement with private industries, including Esri, as well as public sector partnering across Army Corps of Engineers research and development laboratories.
