A Transit GIS for Network Coding and Planning Analysis
Jingke ChenNorth Central Texas Council of Governments' Transportation Department is developing an ArcView GIS application that provides a linkage to The Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Travel Model (DFWRTM) regarding network development and planning analysis. The capabilities of the application, written in Avenue and the Dialog Designer extension, include (1) a set of tools that aid technical analysts in editing transit network and in entering transit information, (2) a translation utility that can convert transit network to the input format required by DFWRTM and (3) planning analysis tools that facilitate ridership estimates or analysis with the output of travel model or with demographic data from a census or survey.
