The Comprehensive Environmental Assessment System (CEAS) is an ArcInfo application that integrates historical and mission collected environmental, geophysical, and oceanographic data to support expeditionary operations in the littoral and sublittoral zone. On-scene, CEAS provides the fleet commander with more accurate and timely descriptions of the operational environment for tactical decision making. During a mine warfare mission, CEAS runs in conjunction with the UNIfied Sonar Image Processing System (UNISIPS), and the Mine Warfare Environmental Decision Aid Library (MEDAL). CEAS provides a tool for the ingestion, display, and analysis of mission collected data, which include georectified acoustic imagery (collected from the AN/AQS-14 mine hunting sonar and processed by UNISIPS), temperature/salinity/sound speed profiles, diver supplied environmental data, and contact information. CEAS passes environmental data to MEDAL, providing a real-time tactical picture of the battle space. This paper describes the successful mission run on the Mine Warfare Command Ship USS Inchon during JTFEX97-3 in August of 1997.
