The New York State Department of Environment Conservation's Division of Fish, Wildlife, and Marine Resources supports a natural resources GIS for ArcView GIS users at many sites across the State. Sites are connected through a wide area network with geographically appropriate data replicated at each location. ArcView GIS projects and extensions are distributed to each site to make using the data more convenient. This presentation describes the use of customized ArcView GIS start-up files and default projects, environment variables, a data theme picker written in Visual Basic, ArcView GIS extensions, and ArcStorm databases to allow a single ArcView GIS project to support data access and special purpose applications.
