The Virtual Earth: Earth Science Through GIS Technology

Building on its previous work with an urban GIS project for middle school science students, TERC is developing an earth science application for middle school students using Esri ARC products. This session reports on the design of the application, the data sets and images selected for incorporation, the interface developed, and the curriculum designed to integrate with middle school earth science topics. It also discusses the process of working with experienced earth science teachers to incorporate their classroom experience into the inquiry-oriented pedagogy embodied in the curriculum.
