Chicago Imagebase Project
Mary Ellen WardThe Chicago Imagebase Project is designed to create a geographically based indexing and retrieval archive of Chicago metropolitan area documents and images, use that archive as the means to preserve materials, link them to other large data sets concerning the region; and make this available through the Internet in ways that encourage creative research, interdisciplinarity, and innovation in the study of the cultural landscape. This is a discussion about the creation of protocols for information collection and entry, the establishment of data set links with other organizations, and the development of effective search engines and GIS applications for the Internet.
