An Application for Electronic Commerce of GIS Data

As demands of GIS data have increased, efficient supplies for GIS data on the Internet will be spotlighted into the new business market. For charged services of GIS data on the Internet, an application was implemented on the Web. Fees can be charged by type of serviced data and length of login time of the system. Searches for GIS data can be achieved by spatial query on raster maps. The information of the searched data can be verified by selecting data symbols on the map and the data set. Additionally, the application can download the data from the server side to client when being demanded of the searched data. Data search was implemented by object-oriented Java applets, so not only is it independent of operating systems such as UNIX and Windows 95, but it also has enhanced code reusability. This application can be supported with optimal environments that supply dynamic data with the Web browser. This application supplies visual information that can be verified with various types of GIS data using raster maps in real time. Also, various types of GIS data required by processes and analysis of GIS data can be supplied.
