Enterprise Implementation of GIS for Transportation in Texas DOT

Upon completing its GIS architecture plan, TXDOT decided to implement the GIS through a series of pilot projects. This allowed staff to build up experience with the GIS, and allowed any lessons learned in the initial implementation stages to provide feedback to the implementation as a whole. The Lufkin pilot has been completed and transferred to the district staff. The GIS uses ArcInfo to edit route systems representing the on-system highways, Sybase to manage the attribute data, and ArcView GIS for user viewing and query.
