The Problem with GIS Tutorials Paper Text

Peter H. Osterroth

Practically every GIS program comes with a tutorial, especially those for the PC market. The questions are: How useful are these tutorials? How beneficial are they in learning to use the specific GIS software package? How can they be improved? Are they worth the price of securing them before actually investing in the software package itself? What are the assets and liabilities of using them? These are some of the questions that are explored in this paper.
