Applying GIS in CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) is considered the official source for providing all the country organizations, universities, research centers, individuals, and international organizations with data, statistics, and information that help in planning, development, evaluation, policy formulation and decision making purposes. Also, CAPMAS carries out all different kinds of censuses. This paper discusses how CAPMAS uses GIS in various activities such as - To build the basemap of all Egyptian governorates, scale 1:5,000 in all GIS packages format - To join the Egyptian 1996 Census with the smallest unit of the administration map, the block or shiakha - To cooperate with governmental organizations to establish their GIS application
