Application of GIS for Distributed Soil Erosion Evaluation: A Case Study in Lishui Catchment, South of China Paper Text

Menlou Li

This article examines a method for evaluating a regional slope system and offers some conclusions reached in research in the south of China. Since soil erosion in a slope system can be indistinguishable, the aim of the research was not to establish the amount of loss, but to quantify erosion conditions. The concept of a Basic Erosion Unit was applied to the slope system using GIS. Differences in soil erosion intensity, in different conditions, were modeled according to USLE. Differences in soil intensities and their relationship to influencing factors helped determine erosion conditions.
