Development of a Simple Transportation Data Viewing Tool Using ArcView GIS
Alan CrouseThe Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) represents fifteen local governments in western Riverside County, California. WRCOG provides both a forum for local government to coordinate planning for the challenges of rapid economic growth and a shared pool of expertise that can be utilized by member jurisdictions. Key areas of effort by WRCOG have been transportation, air quality, solid waste, and habitat conservation. To support these efforts, WRCOG has developed a series of transportation planning tools. The most recent is a transportation data viewing tool that has been developed in concert with the Southern California Association of Governments, GIS/Trans, Ltd., and Esri. This paper will present this simple-to-use tool for cataloging and viewing transportation planning data.
