Sewer Alternative Generation Using GIS and Simulation Models in a Planning Support SystemHyong-Bok KimKyong-Min Kim A planning support system enhances our ability to generate various sewer alternatives depending on land use and development. This study reports the development of sewer alternative generation models as a part of the continuing development of such a planning support system as PSS/CEWS (planning support system for capacity expansion of water supply for urban growth management). Sewer simulation models generate alternatives. Users used sewer modeling to generate alternatives (MGA) based on the results of the simulation models. GIS provides an excellent tool for estimating the volume of storm water and wastewater, manipulating sewer networks, and showing generated alternatives.
