Wyoming Geologic Database: An Internet Map Server Application Paper Text

Frank G. F. Davis

The Wyoming Geologic Database (WGDB) uses Esri's Internet Map Server (IMS) and ArcView GIS to serve geologic information, in map form, about Wyoming over the Internet. The WGDB empowers the user to interactively display and query geologic information by (1) defining an area of interest, (2) querying selected geologic databases, and (3) searching for and returning geologic information that intersects the user-defined area of interest. Optionally, the results can then be printed locally. Examples of a few of the available data types and maps are geothermal, oil-shale, land ownership, and bedrock geology.
