PASDA: An Answer to the Question, Where Do We Get Spatial Data?Melissa LamontTodd Bacastow , David DiBiase As GIS users have experienced, developing spatial data is expensive, yet locating and obtaining already collected data can be problematic. The result is often a costly duplication of data gathering efforts. To help remedy that situation in Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Spatial Data Access (PASDA) system was developed at Penn State for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. Compatible with the Federal Geographic Data Committee's standards, thousands of data sets have been documented and most can be directly downloaded. The huge goal of bringing spatial data to the users relies on some unusual partnerships and cooperative efforts (www.pasda.psu.edu).
