Union Pacific/Southern Pacific Railroad Merger: Use of GIS for Environmental Noise Analysis Paper Text

As a result of the Union Pacific/Southern Pacific (UP/SP) merger, freight rail operations will change along some of the existing corridors. Environmental impacts may occur in the communities along corridors where increases in freight rail operations are proposed. This paper presents the use of Esri's ArcView GIS/ArcCAD software to assess the noise impacts and mitigation options along the existing Union Pacific corridor through Wichita, Kansas.
