Developing a Water Distribution System Maintenance Application
Bart GuettiThe City of Cincinnati's Water Works (CWW) Department is in the process of implementing a GIS for water distribution system maintenance, hydraulic modeling, and customer service purposes. A major component of the effort was the development of the Map Maintenance Application (MMA). The MMA is an update application developed using ArcInfo and Oracle and enables CWW to simultaneously maintain their water system coverages and related RDBMS tables. The MMA features COGO data entry, scroll lists for table inserts, and feature abandonment, and utilizes the integrity constraint checking capabilities of the RDBMS. This paper will discuss the MMA's functionality and development.
