Using ArcView Internet Map Server To Meet Business Needs

Kevan Newton

The Geographic Information and Analysis Systems group at Southern California Edison has for many years been creating scalable client/server GIS applications. With the advent of the Internet Map Server extension for ArcView GIS, users can now access customized GIS applications within the familiar environment of a standard Web browser window without additional hardware, software, or in-depth training. This paper will describe how corporate users have applied and benefited from such applications in general, and then explore one application in greater detail to highlight how a specific business need was met.
