A GIS Application in the Analysis of Environmental Susceptibility as a Methodological Model for Traveling Costs in the Route Selection of Transmission Lines

This paper documents a conceptual frame for the application of the cost of traveling theory in the selection of a transmission line route. This application was developed with the help of ArcInfo, the geographic information system. This methodology starts with the conceptualization of the analytic dimensions, the route selection to minimize the environmental impacts, and the application of GIS and remote sensors to automate most of the processes of capture manipulation and information analysis.
