Water Management Integrated in a Geoscience Information SystemWim BelienThe Netherlands Institute of Applied Geoscience TNO (NITG is a partner in the Business Partner Program) launched the third version of its geoinformation system REGIS. REGIS is used by provincial authorities, drinking water companies, and water boards for surface and groundwater management. It is developed using Esri's ArcView GIS and ArcView Spatial Analyst and the Oracle RDBMS. REGIS contains time-independent data such as lithology, geophysical measurements, and time-dependent data such as water levels and water quality measurements. It also contains interpretations such as geohydrological layer models. At present the following modules have been defined: groundwater, surface water, layer models, columns, meteorology, observation networks, and the REGIS MODFLOW connection.
