Spatial Document Indexing and Retrieval

The City of Burnaby is using Esri software to optimize document storage and retrieval of its 50,000 engineering drawings. This involves two MapObjects applications: (1) an indexing tool used to produce the set of polygons that correspond to the map extent of each drawing and (2) a query tool supporting both spatial and attribute queries. It is intended that this service will be implemented under SDE. Spatial processing will also be used to populate links to drawing files into its Oracle infrastructure database (Hansen's Infrastructure Management System), which is integrated with ArcInfo.
