Land Development Control for Environmentally Vulnerable Region

The issue of conservation and development is critical if the area concerned is vulnerable in terms of groundwater, wildlife, and scenery. The island of Cheju in Korea is one such area receiving great pressure for development. We developed a system to determine the level of development control with minimum effects to environment. It uses established criteria to identify the grade of conservation for the interested area, and if needed an interactive evaluation can be carried out by changing criteria. The system also supports selecting suitable sites for public facilities.
