SmartMap Systems LLC., the Utah Technology Transfer Center, and the Utah Department of Transportation to develop a visual sign and pavement management system. SmartMap Systems determined that a better management tool needs to include (1) enhanced linkages between their management and data visualization programs (e.g., GIS), (2) increased emphasis on federal standards and a complete history to reduce liability, and (3) powerful management and analysis functions. SmartMap Systems has developed a complete sign and pavement management system that integrates the power of GIS and a fully functional database.
