Object Modeling for Utility Networks

Paul Snook

In anticipation of more advanced modeling capabilities in ArcInfo, a study of an object model for distribution networks was conducted, beginning with an electrical distribution system. The resulting models that were developed are the subject of this presentation. The author will review the basics on object modeling techniques and describe the approach used in developing the detailed models. Some advantages of the techniques used will be highlighted, particularly in the area of complex objects such as switch gear and gas regulator stations.
