GIS in the Swedish Armed Forces: Background, Theory, and State of the Art
Lt. Col. Mats SoderbergGIS is an integral part of the C31 structure in the Armed Forces organization as well as a natural component in weaponry, intelligence, ECW, or other systems and a part of a toolbox for simulations and combat preparations. This is necessary with enterprisewide GIS functions in order to obtain undisturbed information exchange, common understanding, and interpretation of the exchanged information and simple training conditions. The GIS has to be some sort of a common language. This presentation describes the efforts of establishing GIS as a common language in the Swedish Armed Forces.
