GeoPres Now State of the Art

The Swedish Armed Forces has released version 1.2 of GeoPres 97. It is a concept with COTS software, ArcView GIS Version 3.0 and the developer tool MapObjects. The Swedish Armed Forces has developed an API that, together with MapObjects tools, fulfills the needs of the C3I systems. There are now better tools to choose the best maps in your installed map database. You also have the opportunity to have as many overlays as you will need. You can transfer reference systems, projections, and data forward and back again. You can handle military or other symbols in a neat way. There are some applications within the concept such as a SitMap Editor that will give us an easy tool to present any situations on maps. There is also a tool that helps you to keep in order what maps you need for a special task force, a battalion, or any other sized military squad. You may say that GeoPres is very close to having it all. There will be further development of the line of MapObjects tools and extensions to ArcView GIS. They will be look-alike for the users. You will find extensions to ArcView GIS that will take care of some of the matters as we have solved with the embeddable tools of MapObjects and GeoPres API. There is interest from all over the world about how we intend to go on with our development. We will listen carefully and take care of those functions for GeoPres that are most common. That will secure the future success for GeoPres and for the users of GeoPres.
